Boomkat Product Review:
Stephan Laubner' Something release from 2012 finally available on digital formats. Ever playful, instinctively groovy and psychedelic, his four 'Good Vaporations' are entirely befitting of a producer many regard as one of the most intriguing and unique in today's scene. A-side we find the charmingly chaotic harmonies and inimitably programmed rhythms of 'Sudden Bliss' and a very canny use of a looped trumpet sample woven into the bumpy fabric of 'Manblind', all complemented with a useful breakbeat in the locked groove. Flipside's 'Kinetic Farel' is odder, wriggling with oily synths, sticky acid and shuffling drum machine syncopation while 'Black Pearl' checks out on a crumpled Theo Parrish style. Nobody does it like STL!
