Boomkat Product Review:
Seattle 4-piece Pretty Girls Make Graves re-release their debut album, previously only available on import in the UK from US label Lookout. A spiky, punchy, punk-ass album, featuring ‘Sad Girls Por Vida’ and ‘Speakers Push The Air’ with it’s confrontational refrain of "Do you remember when the music meant something?". This album is here to help jog the memory. ‘Good Health’ is the exhilarating sound of five people mashing their myriad ideas and influences into fresh noise. Tension builds and shifts without conventional release, as moments of glassy beauty and rousing aggression trade sides. Dissonant, spiralling guitar parts butt up against handclaps and singalongs. Pretty Girls Make Graves formed in Seattle in 2001, fused together out of the still glowing embers of nearly a dozen important groups, such as Death Wish Kids, Area 51, Murder City Devils, Kill Sadie, Sharks Keep Moving and Bee Hive Vaults.
