Boomkat Product Review:
Wowsers, Minimal Wave fish out a proper proto-house/synth-wave nugget from 1985 by Gérard Pelletier and Cati Tete aka Deux. It's pretty hard to believe that this wasn't actually recorded in Chicago - that bassline and the laidback drums on 'Golden Dreams' could be straight off an early Chip E or Mr Fingers gem - but the vocals are pure French elan, cropped close and suitably cold and sexy with the prickly FM synthlines. Again, they've got a total early jack sound down on the Roland pump of 'Everybody's Night', while the vocals beautifully float between dreamy nEuro headspace and darkwave throb. Equally, we could imagine Jellybean Benitez playing the flawless 'Lassitude' to the coolest NYC cats in 1985, and there's room for experimentation with the weirder synth-pop of 'Fam Fam'. Strongly recommended!
