Boomkat Product Review:
The first excerpt from TV On The Radio's forthcoming Dear Science, 'Golden Age' doesn't disappoint. The track initiates with an authoritative electro-funk rhythm section capped off by Kyp Malone's falsetto, only to be joined by a string ensemble and horn section for the choruses. As ever, the Dave Sitek production ensures the band sounds like no other, achieving an end result that lies somewhere between DFA-style dancefloor-conscious indie, and Bowie in Berlin mode. The empassioned crooning on 'Dogs Of Light' meanwhile takes us on a love-lorn daylight waltz, providing a most uplifting coda, suited as it would be to a 90's, coming-of-age romcom (set in New York, obviously). You'll almost certainyl have this on loop for the rest of the day - possibly for the foreseeable future even, and as a means of getting you excited about the album, 'Golden Age' sure does its job, giving you a glimpse of what could be one of 2008's smarter, more sophisticated rock albums. Very good indeed.
