Boomkat Product Review:
It's official, Funky has properly taken over. Sealing the deal is the latest drop from Glasgow's premier dancefloor outlet, Wireblock records with the very smart 'Glitch Dub' from Brum bassed producer Emvee. This is ruffed up Funky in the same style as Hardhouse Banton or NB Funky, focussing his tracks around those nastily serrated basslines but balanced out with slinking carnival percussion and simply made to slay the dance. The B-side relaxes on the overdriven synthbass to give precedence to the lilting African melody, paying some debts to Afefe Iku's 'Mirror Dance' but still flexing for the tuffer side of the dance. It's a good look for Wireblock and with rumours of a forthcoming Roska track dropping on the label, you'll want to keep a keen ear directed to the north. BIG TWELVE!!!
