Boomkat Product Review:
Marco Bernardi serves up a second full-length album for Soma under his Octogen guise, calling upon the kind of eerie sci-fi electro you'd associate with the likes of Dopplereffekt. In addition to the music itself you'll encounter a few spoken word passages early on, setting the scene for a dark, cinematic experience that takes in sounds ranging from the spongy machine symphony 'The Journeyman' to the almost IDM-like beat obliteration of 'James'. By the time you arrive at 'Sunset Over Tao' you'll be in Drexciyan territory, revelling in those finely sculpted, neon-tinted synthscapes and galloping drum machine rhythms. Gindofask is an album that excels in its pursuit of classic, pseudo-futuristic sounds, and lines up alongside some of the best music to be inspired by dystopian fiction and classic dancefloor electronics.
