Boomkat Product Review:
We’re really really proud of this single, a brilliant collaboration between Static and To Rococo Rot / Tarwater’s Ronald Lippok on vocals. Snapped into another reality with a mesh of telephone exchanges and ringing tones humming into existence, you wake up to the strangely pacifying voice of Lippok’s deep delivery on “Ghost Boy. Amid the cacophony of technology and mass communication Ronald drawls “It seems so simple....”, Hanno’s trademarked electroid beat seeped in elements of dub and lullaby, making the appeal to the little Ghost Boy “...turn to me”. Melancholy sprouted out into a flower of originality and hope. “You look at it and make your connections...one after the other...without much fuss.” Sublime. ”A pleasant place“ is a certified, absolute Static classic : crunchy, squashed electroid dubbyness in the finest, deepest sense. The b-side kicks off with soulbrothers ISAN, who, if there would be something like a ”grand prix of lullabies“, would definitely win that contest with their interpretation of Ghost Boy. A lilting, uplifting surge of analogue activity and heart-melting melodies. Gorgeous.
