Boomkat Product Review:
PC Music wrap up the best of pop accelerator Polly-Louisa Salmon aka GFOTY in GFOTYbucks, a survey of some five years of hyper, psychotomimetic dance-pop and EDM art delivered with a sticky, glossy smack.
Cadging from J & K-pops, Makina/Monta Music, and the shiniest EDM production styles, GFOTY has shaped up one of the most singular sounds in her field. For sure it’s a divisive aesthetic, as likely to be fetishised as it is reviled, but for what it’s worth, we’re big fans of her most adroit prods such as USA and her saltiest moments like Lemsip. So, it’s a buzz to now also have her cover versions of Toni Braxton and Blink 182 ready to deploy on straight-laced m8s at the most in/appropriate moments.
