Boomkat Product Review:
Noise-rock heavyweights Health return with a boosted profile thanks to their much-loved Crystal Castles collaboration and an extensive bout of touring that's found them as widely acclaimed for their live presence as their recorded output. This new album finds the group realising much of their potential, with screeching electro-industrial lurches like the awesome 'Die Slow' and the brutal 'Death+'. The fusion of hardcore-styled aggression with cleverly designed electronic outbursts propel a vital splurge of adrenaline across the record resulting in some absolutely monstrous productions: the tom rolls and distortion clouds on 'Nice Girls' are formidable and experimental in equal measure, while later on 'We Are Water' sounds like a new-wavey anthem given an all-devouring, cavernous sonic make-over. This is seriously good stuff, and a wonderfully powerful example of what can happen when somebody gets the integration of electronic music and punk's rawness just right.
