Boomkat Product Review:
Reissue of Hans-Joachim's eleventh - and best selling - solo album, originally released in 1984 by Editions EG. Arriving at the tail end of what many would call his golden period, 'Gift Of The Moment' features eleven compositions by former Cluster/Harmonia man, Roedelius accompanied by Dutch classical cellist, Arjen Uittenbogaard, and violinist Tjitse Letterie. It almost completes his transition from electronic music to a purely instrumental, conventionally classical arrangement, or what had become known as "New Age". Roedelius first recorded the core piano parts at his home studio before multitracking them to parts played on a Korg Poly 61 synthesizer, electric guitar and bass, and later the mournful string section. The results are way more polished than his heartbreaking 'Selbstportrait' LPs, mature you might even say.
