Boomkat Product Review:
Peter Van Hoesen and Yves De Mey regroup for their most impressive, exploratory recordings to date. Since we last heard form them on a couple of Time To Express 12"s in 2009, and a cut from the ace 'Return To Center' compilation, PVH has been standardly knocking out sleekly muscular dancefloor tackle, while YDM contributed an excellent, if overlooked, mini-LP of dextrous electro-acoustic experiments for Sandwell District. On 'Geotope' they've found a subtle blend of the their respective aesthetics primed for audiophiles and home listeners, or even adventurous DJs. It ranges from finely sculpted tonal investigations on 'Terminal Silver Box', Alva Noto-esque glitch processes on 'Following The Constant', through abstracted sci-fi interzones of 'Win Trepsit/Brief Delay', to the NHK-like Technoid grit of 'Further Vexations', and ultra-spacious diffusions on 'Emptiness Of Attention'. A heavy recommendation for fans of Pan Sonic, Kouhei Matsunaga, Rrose, Emptyset.
