Boomkat Product Review:
Legowelt's Strange Life label delivers a follow-up to Grackle's CD-R debut Cloak & Dagger with this five-track EP, sporting remixes by Musiccargo and Legowelt themselves. Musiccargo score themselves pole position with their reworking of 'Disco' (possibly one of the least creative titles in the history of recorded music) which is largely constituted from delayed synths, over-excited handclaps and Italo references. The original turns out to be remarkably similar, but with a little more in the way of synth action at its core. Elsewhere you'll find tracks with names like 'Grackle Trance' and 'Grackle Jungle' which don't really sound a great deal like their titles might suggest. Throughout, Grackle's music channels analogue-style electro futurism which is given an element of robotic, dystopian sci-fi right at the end by a set-closing Legowelt overhaul.
