Boomkat Product Review:
The third album from Berlin producer Guido Mobius takes a turn towards the surreal, starting with 'Niemens', which comes across like a tongue-in-cheek collaboration between Jaap Blonk and Prince, full of nonsense tone-poetry and horribly discordant funk. Next, some four-to-the-floor structuring supplies a more orderly sensibility to 'I Am Williams Kamera', while 'Dig A Mammoth' travels further down a wormhole to nowhere with a clash of string instruments and bizarre electronic sound treatments. This bizarre rhythmic scatology tightens up once again for 'Sssplitter', drawing a choppy, percussive line of horns into play whilst vocals spew semi-beatboxed word-debris all over the track. All very peculiar, but oddly quite addictive.
