Gary (Bonus Remix Version)
Following the success of their unmistakeably daft anthem 'why not?', teutonic techno superstars Alter Ego keep us smiling with a cheekily cosmic synth monster, affectionately known as 'Gary'. Whether it's a tribute to the disgraced glam rock star, or to the disgraceful little fella most often spotted out and about at the weekend isn't made clear, but their synth driven intentions definitely are. This record also shares remix duties from the unbelievably prolific Carl Craig (seriously, this guy must produce in his sleep or something?!?!), Tiga and Product 01. Craig lends a far more sophisticated touch to the proceedings, holding back the synthline and tempering it for a far more glamorous dancefloor, while succinctly balancing the brilliant strobe fuelled energy of the original with a slightly more sinister Italo edge, closer to Alexander Robotnick with his tech house pants on. While Tiga's 'Italia 90' remix enters with a squall of digital noise before dropping the tempo of the original into a slack electro/acid house style etaining *that* riff, but giving it an Italian shower of sleazy house rhythms and pungent synth work. Proper party guaranteed business.
