Club mutator Objekt mints their Kapsela label with a 10 year reissue of classic ‘Ganzfeld’ reinforced by Djrum, Piezo and Ulla remixes that pull it in all directions.
First dispensed by Berlin clubnight-turned-label Leisure System, ‘Ganzfeld’ is acknowledged as an early highlight of Objekt’s oeuvre, around the time of his debut LP for PAN, and following the string of self-released 12”s that placed him on the map. What now feels like a lifetime later, its sleekly angular electro still snaps and bangs with meticulous details that future proof it for contemporary ravers and supply rich source material for the remixers.
One of Objekt’s faves, Djrum takes the brief to heart with two distinctive versions, most notably a 10 minute expansion with new piano-led prologue triggering filleted jungle breaks and arcing strings that buckle into a cowie-jawed halftime breakdown and breakcore brukout, somewhat reminding us of the segmented progression to 4Hero’s ‘The Paranormal In 4 Forms’. For DJ purposes there’s also a handily condensed edit to send ‘em reeling, too.
Milanese producer Piezo offers more sloshing sort of electro-breaks take, doubling up the bass until it practically snaps and unleashes a trickier breakdown and resolves at a peaking 4/4 rollout, sharply contrasting Ulla’s ‘Girl at Müller’ reduction of the original to fizzing ambient-electro-acoustic diffusion.
