Boomkat Product Review:
Remastered reissue of Lena Platonos' 2nd album, 'Gallop' (1985), a genuinely mindblowing synth-pop curio featuring the hugely sought-after dream-pop sequence of ''Bloody Shadows From Afar' - a version to the by-now much loved and influential 'Shadows of Blood'!
Recently trading 2nd hand for over 300 euros, this record has long been the preserve of Greek diggers and synth-pop pickers, yet it remained largely hidden from ears beyond the Hellenic borders. That started to change in 2012/2013 when Into The Light and Kunstkopf, respectively, both reissued some of Lena's songs, and Kunstkopf's cruelly limited, single-sided pressing of 'Shadows Of Blood' gained cult status with anyone lucky enough to nab a copy or who came in contact with it as the opener to Jon K's Fact mix.
Anyway, it's finally made available here along with the rest of the album, which includes the equally covetable industrial discord of opener 'Witches' among a suite of the most surreal, addictive '80s synth-pop that you'll find.
Say no more, this is a buy-on-sight LP.
