Robbie Furze and Milo Cordell's Big Pink deliver their 2nd album for 4AD, three years since 'A Brief History Of Love'. Their time between records has been split between compiling a cool mixtape for K7's mix series and running the ace Merok imprint, but after reconvening in 2011 with assistance from super-producer Paul Epworth and Alan Moulder (MBV, Depeche Mode, NIN) they realised the gleaming 'Future This' (apparently named after an '80s skateboard advert). It coolly reasserts their status as makers of almost stadium-worthy pop with more abrasive underlying intent, striking a pose between every-man "terrace chant" choruses and studio-manicured noise reserved for crucial moments. Highlights have to be the driven swoon and jangle of '1313', and the uplifting electronics of 'The Palace'.
