Boomkat Product Review:
Essential and completely bonkers "proper noise" project from anti-instrument extreme musiq evangelist Dean Frost aka Rogue State. Burned mind trash art-not-art f*ckpunk for followers of The Haters or Survival Research Laboratories.
"Funeral For Music" is a visceral, charged reaction to the lackadaisical contemporary wave of landfill noise, framed as a lesson for budding noiseniks from Rogue State University. Interested parties can fill out and enclosed application form, pay a small fee and submit to a lecture that will prepare you for a record assembled from "grilled sheet music over open flame", "blow torched records", "run over turntables with Ford pickup" and "AM/FM manipulation with circular saw".
As you can probably imagine, the sound Frost creates is as blitzed and destroyed as the genre gets, and resides a good distance from most contemporary noise projects. Frost has hit on a common problem, that by grabbing a cheap synth and piping it through a distortion pedal you're simply repeating a well-worn anxiety meme, not countering or reacting to anything at all. Instead he's calling for the death of music, and offering a torched eulogy we can all learn from.
Your future starts here.
