Boomkat Product Review:
One of the UK's more interesting techno producers returns with three tracks of craftily programmed dancing gear for his own OffKey Industries imprint. The A-side is given over to the gargantuan lead synths of 'The Gauntlet', taking his Detroit influences and mixing them a UK sensibility inna Kirk Degiorgio style, making for an interesting fusion of graceful with melodies with a robust dynamic. 'Dodaso' belies strong Oriental or Far Eastern melodic influences combined with tricky rhythm programming while 'Blackwood Freestyle' features a live recording of Richard Blackwood riffing on parking wardens. Sorry, not really, it's actually a complex feat of rhythm programming executed with O'Brien's usual attention to detail.
