Boomkat Product Review:
Well the Nine Black Alps will be pleased about this - collated from last compositions and overseen by his estate, the prospect of a 'new' Elliot Smith full length, from beyond the grave, made us really quite giddy here. I've always found elliott's tunes pretty insanely catchy, ending up preferring the first three albums to some of the albeit impressive, but occasionally over wrought later work. 'Let's get lost' fits the bill in this respect - almost spooky actually how resonant the voice when all the trappings of production are stripped away. 'Coast to coast' and 'Strung Out Again' work out Eliott's well documented beatles obsession, this time we're somewhere after hours, at a session sometime in between the white album and let it be, best period fab four. Sure, there's always the feint lines of influence and homage to be traced, but any way you look at it we all lost a great songwriter and that's something to be momentarily forgotten, listening to some prime Elliott Smith tunes.
