Boomkat Product Review:
Riley Reinhold, whilst presiding over the Traum, Trapez & Mbf empires with Jacqueline Klein, has somehow found time to dj, a & r and become the driving force behind many projects. Here he collates a double 12" filled with tracks produced with friends & fellow artists for My Best Friend. Working as Triple R, Riley has already released several ep's with Steve Barnes, or mister Cosmic Sandwich as he seems to prefer to be known lately. He has also collaborated with Emanuel Geller and Jorge Gebauhr from argentina under the project name Toro. This project found deep favour in the house community, most notably from the semi-legendary Ata from Playhouse. The five tracks of the double pack are pressed nice and loud, varying the range from deep house manoeuvres on "someday" to the shuffle house rocker "six sick toros". The rhythm monster "tengo suerte esta noche" was also penned by the duo gebauhr & reinhold, yet the strength of the collection is its ability to build out into more italo disco flavours on "polyester" written out of a jam session during a visit to Koln by Denis Karimani of Remute. Balancing the light with the shade, the dark, Konrad Black style track "Beauty needs no wings" was recorded with Emanuel Geller, founder of the dub house duo Salz and one of Riley's closest friends. All in, a fitting tribute to one of the most hard-working figures, at the centre of this thriving scene.
