Boomkat Product Review:
Carl Michael von Hauswolff reconvenes the 12-piece freq_out (dis)assembly for their first outing on vinyl; documenting an installation for the Skandion Clinic for Proton Therapy in Uppsala, Sweden.
Comprising Anna Ceeh, Tommi Grönland, Mike Harding, Carl Michael von Hauswolff, Jacob Kirkegaard, Brandon LaBelle, PerMagnus Lindborg, BJ Nilsen, Petteri Nisunen, Christine Ödlund, Finnbogi Petursson, Franz Pomassl, The Sons of God, JG Thirlwell, Maia Urstad and Jana Winderen.
According to the projects's original concept, each contributor is assigned a frequency range - e.g. 50-60 Hz, 60-75 Hz, right up to 5000-12000 Hz - within which to work, creating heir own pieces in situ, before simultaneous playback, preferably in a large, self contained space.
This LP presents two pieces: the A-side was composed, arranged and mixed by CMvH as a super wide, sidelong tract of isolated drones and atmospheric disturbances drawing the ear to its filigree subtleties; Side B is a richly detailed location recording of fluid textures and road noise with a curiously hypnotic, somnambulant appeal.
