Juke Bounce Werk's NYC-based prodigy DJ Swisha returns with another oily, percussive booter, a mix of sweltering vocal commands, hard-swung breaks and rapid-fire hand drums.
'FREAKBODY' might be our favorite drop from Swisha yet; he's been a prolific member of the NYC rave renaissance and has a Bandcamp page stuffed to the gills with floor fillers, but this one slips just outside of the eye-line. It's tough even to describe it as hybrid dance, it feels like as he's developed his craft DJing regularly and producing, collaborating and remixing constantly, he's refined a dancefloor groove that's a natural blend of Dance Mania's sleazy grit, vintage Chicago house, contemporary break-led techno and East Coast club. 'FREAKBODY' hits because it manages to absorb these elements without utilizing clunky hallmarks - it just goes, and that's all there is to it.
