Boomkat Product Review:
What are Kompakt on at the moment? We want some. After touching extremes with their last 2 releases, from the sublime All to the absurdist Superpitcher, Kompakt slide in again at home base with an absolute stonker. Basically, a four way remix project utilising the considerable combined talents of Wasserman, the aforementioned All aka Wolfgang Voigt, Kompakt stalwarts Frieland and Auftrieb. And the A-side is a thing of rare loveliness, both mixes of 'Manson Soup' are arranged around a soft piano motif which remains on constant looping rotation throughout the whole side, like a happy thought or a good joke which you cannot get off your mind. Herr Voigt continues his journey into delicious ambient territory, while Wasserman goes for the smiling sunloving groove approach. Play all day for optimum benefits. Freiland's mix of 'Face Working' heads unhinged into the curious territory of shuffle-time techno, whilst Auftrieb's 'Dali Bop Horizon' is an irresistible prime time tune, which carries a mighty thump and yet still remembers to crisp the pancakes around the edges. Large release.
