Boomkat Product Review:
Initially released in 2004, Prurient's Fossil is a two-part tirade of unpleasantness, although compared to the ear-perforating horrors found elsewhere in Dominick Fernow's catalogue, this might be considered to offer some respite. 'With You' is not without its subtleties, functioning with a recurrent interest in thoughtful feedback sculpting and raw synth drones, with only a partial interest in scaring the bejesus out of you via blasts of screeching noise terrorism. The soaring feedback elements prove especially interesting when dispatched in isolation; Fernow elicits some interesting harmonic developments from his set up, at times sounding a little like an Evan Parker solo. 'Waiting' uses orchestral sampling to great effect, teaming the blackest of power electronic dirges with occasional outbreaks of decadent string recordings. Excellent stuff this, capturing Prurient in top form.
