Boomkat Product Review:
Moving Ninja style at the drop of a hat, the Aussie anomaly on Tectonic drop a bit of a surprise with 'formations'. Whilst their previous outing displayed a heavier breaks influence to their dubstep, this time round they've opted for a crushing metallic halfstep sound, 'blackout' forged from the same noisy mould as Scorn or Vex'd alloyed with the clipped hiphop/dub rhythms of Loefah. Dense industrial atmospheres cast a dark shape over the rest of the 12", with 'THX' taking a cinematic back route through halflit alleyways littered with scuzzy half step rhythms, and 'Kemancheh' with a dramatic display of tense dubstep torsion. Tectonic notch up another number in their essential back catalogue.
