Boomkat Product Review:
Cologne's Von Spar make good with some serious early 80s synthpop referencing the likes of Utravox, Prefab Sprout and the studio of Conny Plank. With the exception of 'trOOps' this is a really enjoyable album, shaping luxurious synthesizer sounds into a well studied, soft-focus tribute to the pop glory of 1984. 'Scotch & Chablis' lets the slow drums flutter with acres of delay while angelically purred vocals make love with white-light synth pads. 'I Can't Stand The Grain' harks back to late 70s Moebius and Plank in sublime mode, and 'Collecting Natural Antimatter' strokes the Fairlight into an epic three part action with spooling arpeggiations spilling into 'HyBoLT' and 'Lambda'. Ace!
