Athens-based DJ, producer and sound designer Eleni Adamopoulou aka Giganta debuts on Werk Discs with five coolly lucid, colourful garage-house deviations. 'Force' is representative of the RBMA graduate's stance against the negativity and violence connoted with Athens since the financial crash of 2008, or as she says, "Music is the force that creates hopes and dreams. And so it all begins." There's a vital, infectious energy to the EP which shouldn't be ignored, from the hiccuping, Akufen-like funk of 'Can't Stop Playing', thru the chromatic chord flares of her Sensate Focus-like 'Spot Scene', to the trippy wiggle of the title track, whilst 'This Goes On' finds a fine balance of Detroit melancholy and crisp, prodding dancefloor drive beside our favourite 'Is Ma Beat' - a hard-swinging garage groove laced with the kinda dancefloor queerness we've come to love and expect from Werk Discs.
