Fleeting Adventure
Banjo-wielding Aussie alum of Room40’s A Guide to Saints and Someone Good sublabels, Andrew Tuttle touches down on Todmorden’s rustic-minded Basin Rock for a charming country ramble.
Feeling right at home in the label borne of Tod’s anachronistic folds in the Pennine landscape, ‘Fleetign Adventure’ sees Tuttle flanked by fellow journeymen, Steve Gunn, Chuck Johnson, Luke Schneider and Balmorhea, for what the label usher in as “a cosmic trip into subtropical landscapes”.
Maybe a handful of trippy local mycelia might best bring the cosmic aspect to light, but even without mother nature’s funny goggles on, the music evinces a time and place out of joint, with Tuttle’s bank strums leading the way along blooming banks of lap-steel twang and sparingly gauzy electronic treatments that make it all feel as comfortable and easy-going as your favourite denim and flannel combo or a lazy afternoon with good company in the Golden Lion garden.
