Boomkat Product Review:
Monolithic and motorik lo-fi psyche music from Heavy Winged on Three Lobed Recordings. These two tracks were recorded late last year when the group happened to be in Brooklyn together, combining their collective force in triumphant fashion. 'Among The Maori' is a bloodied thrust of pounding, primitive tribal drumming from Xela collaborator Jed Bindeman surrounded by howling, apocalypse-summoning guitar noise and loaded into a battered 4-track, recalling Liars or The Boredoms at their fiercest. 'The Hum Of The Universe' is more contemplative, a meditation on viscous drones with ghoulish viola and bowed bass from Bob Jones buried beneath ceremonial slow drums, building in intensity as the armies of hell approach from the horizon and settling to a blank, stoic state, ready to face what may come.
