Boomkat Product Review:
Scoring comparisons with everyone from Crosby, Stills & Nash to Ryan Adams, Devon's The R.G. Morrison invite parallels to Americana heroes both old and new, coming off favourably thanks to an impressive line in arrangements exemplified by pieces such as the string-buoyed 'Virginia' and the honeyed harmonies of 'Beckett'. For all The R.G. Morrison's expertise in the field of country-rock, there's a bit more oomph in hoary, fuzzed-up dirges arriving towards the end of 'It's Not How You Love' and 'Broken Hands'. Better still is the heavily stylised 'I Won't Waltz', which takes on a mournfully theatrical quality that's one-part Tom Waits, one part Thom Yorke.
