Boomkat Product Review:
Described by The Social Registry as a "process-oriented band", Telepathe are an NYC outfit whose central line-up is comprised of Melissa Livaudais from Paw Tracks band First Nation and the implausibly named Busy Gangnes, who has worked in the field of modern dance, notably contributing to the Starter Set Dance DVD on Kill Rock Stars. Farewell Forest gets underway with the 'Pet Communicator', an energetic jumble of rampaging, beaten-up sounding drums and delayed guitar leads, serving as an apt prelude to the more song-like 'Blinded Mouths', which sounds half like a Liquid Liquid jam, half like some obscure psych-folk cassette. Perhaps best of all is 'Envoy', which features some of the band's most 'conventional' work, in that the vocals are distinguishable and the guitar passages are a little more pronounced. The chaotic pitch shifts and tom battering of 'The March' rounds off the EP with another fine slab of esoteric percussion-based composition, leaving you a little disorientated, but exhilarated nonetheless. Excellent.
