As a warm up for Komeit's intimately massive second album falling into place Monika do the right thing by confusing all and sundry with a remix EP before any punter has heard the finished tracks. Anyhow believe me the album will be massive for anybody touched by Lali Puna, the fragile majesty of Hope Sandoval and the pop shine of Saint Etienne. So, first up is T.Raumschmiere who gives three hours a steamy acidic shower in his usual hustling rhythm style but this time not quite so dry on the tongue. Klang Elektronik man Betreib (aka Ekkehard Ehlers) don's his micro house pants and releases the stuttering vocal cut up's with choppy, bubbling micro house for saturday night. A right quirky and charming little funker. Resident Mego hip hop DJ DSL confuses wonderfully with his mix on when it starts. Stop and start sample drops, creating a cut n paste blanket of drums breaks balladry, cheap bontempi organ cheesefesting, all while the guitar strums along against Chris and Julia's delicious vocals. A mad yet totally genius remix. Robert Lippok's mix of i can tell uses a Trans Europe Express hi hat shuffle, while delicate guitar lines rub against the dancing sub bass and fizzling electronic wiring. Then the beat drops in a slow body rock style against wistful melodics, lingering vocal refrains and singing micro distortion. A masterful, brilliant reworking as you'd expect from Mr Lippok of course. Last up is new Scape signing Bus who get dandy with the dubism on the second mix of saturday night. not as you'd totally guess. Very slinky and the mix up of styles work perfectly as they do across all the mixes on this ace 12". A serious high five recommendation.
