Boomkat Product Review:
I was all revved up with hatred for this album on seeing the tracklisting - I started to imagine spruced up blonde boys dancing to each other's parfum drenched necklines in the hope of attracting some kind of attention for their bland meaningless middle-class lives, however on popping the disc into the cd player I started to have second thoughts. Then the music started... "Funny" I thought to myself, I hadn't vomited and it was already five minutes into the disc, another 5 minutes and I was still fine, not only this but I was tapping my feet in enjoyment - what was wrong with me?? Then I noticed it, Sonic Youth (well, Ciccone Youth), staring up at me in all their glory the funky chickens - they'd done it, they had turned what could have been so wrong into something so right. You see, this cd documents the interesting bit of nu-disco, rather than the hipster crap we're so rightfully allowed to hate with tomatoes and parsnips etc. I mean as shocking as you'll find it even Goldfrapp's horrible 'Slide In' is reworked to glory by those DFA fellers... If this is the way club music's going I might one day brave the dancefloor again..... then again... maybe not. Really good fun.
