Boomkat Product Review:
The In The Red roster already includes bands like Pussy Galore, Black Lips and The Dirtbombs, so you'll be massively unsurprised to discover that The Hunches specialise in a spectacularly deformed brand of garage rock, coated in just the right amount of over-saturation and metallic distortion to really do some damage. If 'Ate My Teeth' was a question on a maths exam paper, the answer would be "din²". Immediately afterwards, prepare to be taken aback by the sweet slow-jam sloppiness of 'Not Invited', which enters into all-conquering Love As Laughter-style vintage rock reprobation. It just keeps on getting better, doffing a cap to The Stones at their weirdest, The Stooges at their harshest and any number of other perennially brilliant rock & roll touchstones. You get the impression that these guys would be incredible live - largely because you can hear all that unspoiled rawness spilling over the edges of this thorny, adreneline-spouting opus. Highly recommended.
