Boomkat Product Review:
Hailing from the sleazy underbelly of the Hague, Bumper are the rouge electro-chemists otherwise known as Ingmar Pauli (widely praised for his involvement with the Novamen who record on I-F's Murder Capital and Viewlexx labels) and Geoffrey Tonkens. The duos blueprint is pinned tightly to the dance-floor, with a clear influence from past funk masters Parliament and Detroit's vocoder heroes Cybotron. This new EP is bursting with synth springs and raking bass squelches ready to make you boogie. Recalling the sluggish fatness of Zapp and the pure unadulterated funk of Prince, "Everybody Fonki" brings retro back to the breakfast table with some the Fonkiest bass lines you're likely to hear this side of the millennium. The kind of sh*t that makes you wish you had learned to do the robot in school. Pigna People (aka Marco Passarani, Francisco and Raiders Of The Lost ARP) delve deep into the analogue jungle with their up tempo remix of "Mascara Love", fusing trademark Chicago rhythm boxes, tribal mesmerica and the dopest bass programming with the original's guitar licks and bass drum kicks.
