Boomkat Product Review:
Two remixes for Weave, the pick comes from Patrick Raddatz – puttering along in a “I’m cooking with acid here, don’t get too close and mind the splashes” kind of a way. Actually it was always the prospect of some kind of collateral damage, call it friendly fire if you will, which appealed to us about proper acid in the first place. Po-Lite acid, if there is such a thing: well there is now, cause we just coined it. Anyway, we’re just saying. Turn over - oh look its that man John Dahlback again, but the comparison of this remix with the decent Hug record for K2 listed elsewhere this week, really isn’t worth making. Whilst subscribing to the new-old acid formula – the drums sound creaky and you really can hear the joins. The rave up breakdown nearly salvages matters, with ’91 chording and a determined enough right to party, but still, old school is a state of mind, not a formula.
