Europa (Abul Mogard Reworks)
On the heels of his masterful album ’In Immobile Air’, Abul Mogard yields two typically in-depth and starkly brilliant remixes of the 2017 album by Belgrade duo, Tapan
In a stroke of serendipity, Mogard’s fans at Tel Aviv’s Malka Tuti were blessed with the enigmatic artist’s unsolicited request to remix cuts from ‘Europe’, resulting in some of Mogard’s very darkest and immersive material. His take on the title track arrives stealthily, swelling from barely there timbral presence to a great blank mass of keening drones, and turning the searing brassy synth lead of the original into what sounds like arcane battle pipes heard across eons. Furthermore, he tempers another album cut ‘In My Heart’, starring guitar by Radawan Ghazi Moumneh ov Jerusalem In My Heart, to a gauzier blur laced with iridescent traces of the original’s streaking strings within its extraordinary widescreen scope.
