We know this release will be getting a lot of horror soundtrack fiends very excited right about now. Combining a 2-track 7" with an 8-track CD housed in a screen printed sleeve, this is the killer new release from The Giallos Flame aka Ron Graham and Chris Murphy, a pair of Italian horror soundtrack aficionados with a very neat line in highly authentic tributes to the sounds of Goblin and Fabrizio Frizzi. Their name is a reference to the Italian genre of crime and horror fiction and the films of Dario Argento or Mario Bava and with a basic setup of keys, bass, guitar and drums the duo concoct an intoxicatingly realistic musical arrangement directly inspired by the style. The 8-track CD is a brilliant mini-narrative, moving from a chilling opening sequence with doomy synth chords and death knell drums, to sleazy funk and tense synth driven episodes via paranoid interludes and slick psyche jams. The 7" picks two of the best tracks in the darkly funky 'The Ripper' and the dramatic freakout scene 'Cool Runnings' pressed crisp and heavy with a beautiful analog recording. In the words of our resident Horror freak John Twells "The stalking ghosts of Fabio Frizzi and Goblin would no doubt be proud - astonishingly good stuff ". Recommended and super
