Boomkat Product Review:
As D&B producers seek to distance themselves from the more sordid strains of their beloved genre, an increased focus on melodic and harmonic complexity and rhythmic intricacy is leading to IDM revivalism, especially in the Autonomic quarters. The first vinyl release on New Zealand label, Etcht - following a sample pack issue by Arovane - is a case in point, four tracks of glistening hyperprismic melodies and augmented jungle stepping from the burred breakbeats and chimes of 'Lyon' to the Rephlexive skitter and harmonised pads of 'Oeraser' (such an IDM name) and over to the Autechrian electro progressions of 'Modu1' and 'Ressed'.
