Boomkat Product Review:
'Estrelando Embaixador' is a mind-melting Brazilian album cum collage/mixtape originally released in 1972 and currently frying heads thanks to this very necessary reissue. Original copies are mythically scarce, and even a 2013 reissue was woefully undersupplied, especially so when considering the precedence and brilliance of the music. Both sides play through as though mixed by a DJ at the GRM, seamlessly segueing eight songs with psychedelic effects and rolling percussions to make one of the brightest, sun-drenched listens that we've had the mercy of picking up in mid-winter. It's near enough Tom Zé and Os Mutantes meets Gilles Peterson at NWW's place, shuffling from glorious choral harmonies to hard-bitten funk and tropicalia pop with nothing more than a wink and drop of the hip that leaves us beaming and drippin' for more. Don't miss!
