Erroneous: A Selection Of Errors
Erroneous: A Selection Of Errors is the result of two years' worth of file swapping and conceptualising between legendary UK electronics visionary Steven Stapleton and Italian avant-rock band (and Important Records regulars) Larsen. Also along for the ride is former Neu! and original Kraftwerk member, Eberhard Kranemann (Fritz Muller) who joins forces with NWW for the opening sixteen-minute opus, 'Tickety-Boo'. The piece quickly evolves from a typically sinister electroacoustic piece into a peculiar experimental bhangra (or given Kranemann's involvement, perhaps 'bahn-gra' would be more appropriate? No? Perhaps not) outing held together by dhol beats, slowly undulating drones and various other chaotic sonic tangents. Larsen join in during the similarly lengthy 'Driftin' By', initiating a dark and gloomy bedrock of roaming tones that begins to open up a little during the more worldly sounding 'Rock Baby Rock' and the beat-driven post-rock soundscape 'Cob-Kite Toy'. The final two pieces are Larsen sans NWW, launching into immensely visceral, but comparatively straight-laced instrumental crescendos during 'Call Me, Tell Me' before embarking upon a tranquil and melodic final entry, 'Bug Vaudeville'.
