Boomkat Product Review:
Titonton Duvante has been on the scene for a good few years now – releases for Central, Environ, Metamorphic and Starbaby, among others, making up his now considerable cannon of work. On this new label and 12” Titonton seems to be moving towards the sound of his long time friend and erstwhile collaborator Morgan Geist, with more than just a hint of disco thrown into the mix. The opener ‘Getting Warm’ is a minimal techno cut with a funky ass bassline keeping the groove tight, claps and 909 kicks do the rhythm while the bass builds and jumps around the beat with some subtle tweaking enhancing the movement of the groove. Some serious chords supply a jazzy edge that snugly fits with the acid led bass. The flip offers a couple of deeper moments, namely ‘Coquette’ which has a classic feel from the word go with a 303 bass popping all over the beats and lush strings enhancing the harmonics, Carl Craig versus Mr Fingers is an apt description and a fine way to kick off a new label.
