Boomkat Product Review:
The highly acclaimed Sufjan Stevens departs from the singer-songwriter persona of 'a sun came', 'michigan', and, most recently,'seven swans', with these incredibly diverse, largely electronic fourteen instrumental compositions based on the animals of the chinese zodiac. Combining his gift for melody with insane electronic production, the album isn't scared to veer towards the most extreme ends of experimentation and cuddly insanity with the aid of what sounds like an army of broken instruments, a laptop and random farmyard animals. XLR8R described it as "...an academic jam session of stereolab and luke vibert conducted by steve reich.”, and who are we to argue. Check.
