Boomkat Product Review:
Kevin Gorman returns with an ambitiously advanced concept single released through his own Mikrowave imprint. The premise is thus; in the age of digital DJing with jockeys possessing the ability to easily mix more than two tracks together at the same time, and often mixing multiple elements of the same track, Kevin has released the original versions plus all the individual elements of his remix of Zuni's 'Hoodwinked' besides his own 'Cyclic' and 'Insomnia' on the same single, giving you at home the chance to rearrange and remix the tracks to your own specifications. The three original tracks are typical of Kevin's spotless productions, heavyweight minimal techno and tech-house primed to the highest levels for deployment anywhere in the world and sitting on a par with those of his peers Tadeo, Mark Broom or Marcel Dettmann. The components for each track are divided into 'Riff Tools', 'Pad Tools', 'Stripped Versions' and 'Ambient Mixes' scoured clean and primed for mixing in whatever way you see neccessary. This concept has been used before on web based remix projects by various artists but to our knowledge this is the first time it's been hatched as a commercial venture and we're very intrigued to see the future results. Very good indeed.
