Boomkat Product Review:
Seriously dark, Lynchian atmospherics from Richard Charier under his Pinkcourtesyphone alias. In his words, it's "the second full-length call from the Pinkcourtesyphone-line; a loquacious interlude on beauty, place, and obsession. The caller's voice whispers a wistful yet false love-letter to the cinema of aesthetics from a distant place concerning the things you did…and things you need to have done." The oneiric nightscape of 'Petraglyph (For Ranier)' is reminiscent of Lustmord's best work, and the looming feeling of metaphysical dread is amplified as the track progresses by distant, reverberating snare tattoos that wouldn't sound out of place on a Vatican Shadow or Bronze Age record. At the heart of 'Sans Motif'/'Closer To Here Than You Care To Be' is a rich, swelling, almost pastoral melody, but around it phantoms circle. It's great material, recommended to fans of Kreng, Leyland Kirby, Badalamenti, Lustmord, Julien Neto, et al.
