Boomkat Product Review:
Cherry-picked survey of a world-renowned and influential ‘70s/‘80s electronic music scene, compiled to accompany and highlight classic cuts by some of the key players in Rudi Esch’s book Electri_City - The Düsseldorf School of Electronic Music.
The first disc (included oin the 2LP and 2CD versions of this release) was released in 2014 and wields some total evergreens such as Liaisons Dangereuses’ Los Niños Del Parque and DAF’s Der Mussolini along with the motorik stylings of La Düsseldorf and Neu! plus Die Krupps’ hot-stepping Wahre Albeit Wahrer Lohn and the autobahn cruise of Underbar by Wolfgang Reichmann.
Many of the same artists appear on the 2nd disc, too, expanding the definition of Düsseldorf as the home of romantic industrialism thru gems such as the Robert Girl and Annie Lennox duet, Darling Don’t Leave Me and Reheingold’s peppy Fluss along with the sexy jack of Kebabtraume and Teja Schmitz’ Studieren.
Basically, in case you were under any illusions; Düsseldorf isn’t just all about those four, kinky, bike-loving robots!
