Boomkat Product Review:
Beamed direct from Nintendo's Inferno, Norwegian duo Next Life (aka Hai Nguyen Dinh and Tormod Christensen) have evidently been up to no good with their soldering irons... The unholy union of tightly packed deathmetal (although no heavier than most post-rock) and Gameboy samples galore, 'Electric Violence' is no-where as unlistenable as you might imagine; sounding not unlike DJ Scotch Egg, Mad Capsule Markets and 65daysofstatic having a face-off in the Peak District. At turns impolite, brusque and strangely inviting, tracks like 'More Than One' and 'Vanished' blur past in a cloud of 8-bit beeps, Animal drumming and 50ft riffage; all given extra pep by electronic stabs and never-ending crescendos. Providing respite in the guise of the beatific 'Under Water' and 'Storm', Next Life understand the need to offer up an olive-branch of calm amongst the cacophonous shenanigans. Danger, danger... High voltage!
