Boomkat Product Review:
Freakin' wild '60s jukebox burner reissued by the Jazzman! Gretchen and Cathy Owens and their pal Linda Jones aka The Tammys released the shrieking, diesel-fuelled girl-group pop of 'Egyptian Shumba' in 1963. It somehow failed to make an impression on the charts, despite their connections with Lou Christie, but it was later picked up as a Northern Soul anthem and later still listed in Pitchfork's top 200 songs of the 1960s at number 177. Trust us, you probably ain't ever heard owt like it.
