Well, you all know that we Luuuuurvvvve Zorn, so it shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise to you that we’ve put this out. Zorn has been in the CCO family since the start, really, having collaborated with our Berlin chief Thaddi Herrmann on the No Movement No Sound No Memories track that ended up being remixed by the likes of Pole and Arovane (both for Lux Nigra). After that? Well, Micha kept his head down and came up with, for us, the most groundbreaking release of last year – the astonishing Tower Park E.P. and the more recent debut LP The City’s Collapsing.... , both on the Lux Nigra label. In compiling this 7”, Manchester and Berlin sat together and decided on two tracks that showed two very different sides to Zorn’s work. The first track – Eckermann was one of the very first pieces of music recorded by Micha a couple of years ago. Different to his more known work, there are subtle accoustic guitar loops here that sliver around Zorn’s killing blue-mood beats. Vian, on the flip, is one of Zorn’s newest pieces, a truly astonishing, deep dub-out in an unquestionably Berlin stylee. But anyway, enough of the chat, we think this is really rather lovely, so check it out.
